Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attacked the Ram temple consecration rite, calling it a political
Narendra Modi characteristic.
The RSS and the BJP have made the 22nd January characteristic a very political Narendra Modi function. It’s an RSS BJP function, and I think that is why the Congress President stated that he would now not go to the function. We are open to all religions, all practices,” Gandhi stated at a briefing in the course of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Nagaland’s capital, Kohima.
“Even the authorities of the Hindu faith, the largest authorities of the Hindu faith have made their view public about what they think about the 22nd January characteristic that it is a political function. So it is tough for us to go to a political characteristic that is designed around the Prime Minister of India and designed across the RSS,” Gandhi delivered.
Gandhi’s statement comes days after the Congress declined the invitation for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, announcing that its birthday celebration leader Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Sonia Gandhi and Cong ground chief in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury will not attend the occasion. In its declaration, the Congress had said, “The inauguration of the unfinished temple via the leaders of the [ruling] BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] and [its ideological fountainhead] the RSS [Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh] has been obviously added ahead for electoral benefit.”
The seven-day rituals for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony started on Tuesday. The foremost consecration rite may be hung on January 22 and may be presided through Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The grand event could be attended by outstanding saints and celebrities, which include sportspersons, actors and industrialists.
“The ‘anushthan’ has commenced and could preserve till January 22, the day of the consecration ceremony. Eleven clergymen are appearing the rituals invoking all of the “devis and devatas” (goddesses and gods),” Ram temple leader priest Acharya Satyendra Das informed PTI.
